The Antifa That Says "Ni!"
There's a scene in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" where the king says to his son: "When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad. The strongest castle in all of England."
This is essentially the story of the Reflecting Pool. It was built on reclaimed land, swampy reclaimed land, and over the past hundred years it has had massive leak and subsidence problems, as you might expect from a large flat structure built on what is essentially Jello-O.
The standard solution over the years was to simply pour new concrete over the old, the last time having been the Reagan years.
(The definition of insanity, btw, is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.)
President Obama said "Let's fix this."
So over a span of 18 months engineers hammered 2100 oak pilings down into bedrock and resurfaced the new foundation, its first ever, with fresh concrete. (Yes, oak is wood but it's now in an anaerobic environment so it will last almost forever.)
The original pool did not have a filtration system because it used fresh drinking water, but up to 25 million gallons of that water leaked out each year. Not sustainable, so the decision was made to switch to a filtration system using water from the Potomac. This resulted in increased problems with algae but the fresh-water system also had algae problems, too.
The current disaster with the pool is that Trump wanted it to be a pretty color. That's all it is. Nothing was fixed or improved, just painted over by amateurs.
But it is also, by inference, just another scheme of Trump's to give away millions in tax dollars in a no-bid contract to a crony.
Say it with me now: "Trump, we fart in your general direction!
(Some of you may nitpick my charming little tale for being somewhat incomplete but I kept it as brief as possible by short-handing the technical details and, for now, avoiding reminding Americans that Trump is hiding evidence which might prove that he and Jeffrey Epstein spent years raping and possibly murdering young women. You're welcome.)

Today in "Couchfucker Says What?" our Vice-Quisling recently said, out loud, "I joked that if Watergate happened tomorrow it would be like a 12 hours news story."
What he could have gone on to say was:
"That's because the Republican Party has spent the past 50 years making sure its members were above the law, even to the extent that its leader, with clear ties to a Russian dictator, can legally conceal evidence that he probably r*ped and m*rdered little girls. I mean, it's great to be a Republican today, amma right?"
(I know the part about the little girls may exceed the flight envelope of your moral ick-factor but Trump isn't going to frantically absurd lengths just to hide stories from the public about the time he stole apple pies off window sills.)
