Bad To the Last Drop

As though we don't have enough problems with rising oil prices Trump is currently emptying America's strategic petroleum reserve at a record pace, 5 million barrels per day, almost begging other countries to come by and fill up. He obviously considers the reserve as no less than a resource previous president's have been foolish not to sell to the highest bidder, like our nation's parklands and oil-rich coastal areas.

This, as you might expect, is a problem. That oil is meant for real emergencies, to keep oil prices steady in real emergencies, not as inventory to put on sale when oil prices are temporarily high. And if prices remain elevated the reserve will be extremely difficult to replace. Even worse, once enough oil is pumped out the salt domes in which it's stored they will begin to deteriorate and cannot be repaired or reused afterwards.

I'll say it again.... the "excursion" in Iran is meant to raise oil prices. That is all it is. Trump and his minions can holler "Freedom" or "Nukes!" or "Cheaper mufflers!"all they want but, like Dubya in Iraq and Afghanistan, the "president" used our armed forces, and billions/trillions of tax dollars, to help make oil CEOs richer. End of story.
