I've been watching South Park since very early in its existence, and I've enjoyed (almost) all of its foul-mouth fun. But I'm starting to worry about it, because of Trump.
You see, someday Trump and Trumpism will die and he will be immediately forgotten by those who hated him, for who and what he represented, and by those who used him until they used him up.
South Park, as you might have noticed, has been leaning heavily on Trump's chaos for their story lines for over a decade but after he's left the building, feet-first hopefully, no one, absolutely no one, will ever want to see those insane (and there's no better word for them) episodes again. They will find no place in future syndicated packages.
Parker/Stone, and Comedy Central, have done well financially with South Park but, like everything else Trump touches, a part of the program will die. His part. But good riddance.
Editorial cartoons are being affected the same way. Who, after all, will care about vintage cartoons featuring a demented toddler as he destroyed this country on a whim? Or the whim of Vladimir Putin?
I know that if I ever publish a book of my favorite Raging Pencils, as I've threatened to do over the years, Trump will not be in there.
