start rant

Suppress THIS, Muthafukkahs!

Ah, Georgia. Where you're now free to vote for whoever the Republican Party decides will win.

---------------

If the Texas power grid had failed during the polar vortex, and experts say it could have been offline for months, there would have been, oh, let's call them "large caravans" of Texans escaping their state for other locales offering food, water, civilization.... you know, the same thing Central Americans are trying to find in America after their country was destroyed by climate change.

And the first to abandon Texas would have been Ted F*cking Cruz.

---------------

Here's one sure clue that a person has a mental illness:

1. He or she owns an assault rifle.

While self-evident this assertion is widely ignored by Republican politicians who generally ignore the mental health of Americans and still look fondly upon the golden, halcyon days of Ronald Reagan who, immediately upon taking office, crushed funding for mental facilities... and was shot two months later by a man who suffered from schizophrenia.

A further insult to Americans; A sitting Republican congressman, Steve Scalise, was shot and wounded by a gunman in 2017 but has somehow determined he'll get more votes from gun-owners than reasonable people who want gun control laws. This isn't actually true but there's no Reasonable Gun Owners Association of America lobby that will repeatedly slip him campaign contributions under the table.

---------------

I firmly believe that most Republican politicians realize that abortion, gun control laws, and immigration all benefit our society but using them as wedge issues is just much more politically expedient for them in earning the votes of morons, so here we are.

---------------

An indication of possible normality returning to Dallas, my fair city.

On the way home from receiving my second dose of vaccine this afternoon I passed a location that was distributing free boxes of food. A neatly-stacked pile sat ready for all comers but there was no one there save for a pair of attendants basking in the sun of a glorious Spring afternoon.

Quite a difference from the depths of the pandemic when such public largesse resulted in blocks-long lines of the hungry waiting their turn.

---------------

Attenzione all Pencil-Necks!

You might notice a slight change in the navigation of Ragingpencils.com. The new home page will be a static image from here on, though it will change from week to week as it suits my fancy, and it will link through to the newest comic. This should solve any confusion from having the home page and the newest comic page being more or less identical. I hope you like it.
